Research Lab

The case study of Albanians (coming from the ex-Yugoslav republics, such as Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia, or the autonomous province of Kosovo and Albania) focuses on the efforts in the place-making process and transfer the representations and aesthetics to build visible and robust identity structures.

In contrast to other studies of Albanian migrants in Western Europe, I adopt a cross-disciplinary approach of merging architecture, urban studies with anthropology and migration studies, equally in practice and theory, that so far has not been adopted in the research of South-East European migrations.

I bring Albanian migrant patterns into the broader context of urban margins, neighborhood and urban culture, based on cohabitation, interlinkages and conviviality, where participation, migrant network practice and redesigning urban environment is at the core of my analysis.
